Remembering the Architect: BRS Leads Homage to Professor Jayashankar in Ashwaraopeta

In a heartfelt tribute to one of Telangana’s most revered figures, Professor K. Jayashankar, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) orchestrated a commemorative event in Ashwaraopeta to mark his birth anniversary. The occasion, held on Thursday, saw a gathering of prominent leaders and community members paying homage to the visionary ideologue whose ideas laid the intellectual foundation for the separate state of Telangana.

The poignant ceremony took place at the Zilla Parishad High School grounds, where Professor Jayashankar’s statue stands as a symbol of his enduring legacy. BRS representatives, alongside local dignitaries, observed the tradition of laying wreaths and offering floral tributes as a mark of profound respect and remembrance.

The event underscored the widespread reverence for Professor Jayashankar, drawing a diverse group of attendees from various walks of life. Among those present were influential women leaders, including Ashwaraopeta Municipal Councillor Dr. Bhukya Uday Jyothi and Kasani Naga Sesha Padma, whose presence highlighted the inclusive nature of the commemoration. They were joined by former Town President Satyavarapu Sampoorna, alongside other key community figures such as Jujjūrappu Sriramamurthy, Moturi Mohan Somani Raja Ramesh, Bali Kiran, Rafi, and Usman. Together, they united to honour a man who profoundly shaped the region’s destiny.

Known affectionately as ‘Telangana Ideologue,’ Professor Jayashankar’s intellectual prowess and unwavering commitment to the cause of Telangana were instrumental in articulating the region’s distinct identity and aspirations. His tireless efforts in advocating for statehood provided the intellectual and moral backbone for the movement, making him a perpetual source of inspiration for generations.

As Ashwaraopeta paused to remember Professor Jayashankar, the event served as a powerful reminder of the values he championed – justice, identity, and self-determination. The BRS’s initiative ensures that his contributions remain etched in the collective memory of Telangana, continuing to inspire progress and unity across the state.
